Amazingly, when I first started this website a couple of years ago, I could not find any Sustainability events to go to. Now we have a wealth of interesting, informative events and it is often difficult to choose.
What a difference a little time makes....I call that progress.

February 24 - BUILDINGS is presenting a webinar on “Conducting and Understanding an Energy Audit”, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (MST)
An energy audit is the first step toward assessing how much energy your building consumes and which systems are consuming the most. An audit will identify problems that, when fixed, can save significant amounts of money. But where do you start, and how do you go about it? Determine whether or not your facility needs an energy audit - and how to get it done - by watching this webinar
Learning Objectives
- Define the steps of an energy audit.
- Learn ways to identify how much energy your building consumes, and which systems are the biggest energy wasters.
- Identify the possible problems that might be identified during an energy audit.
- Compare the pros/cons of doing an energy audit yourself and hiring a professional.

March 11 - Film screening of Big Water - The UNM School of Architecture and Planning Auditorium - 7:00PM (Doors open at 6:00PM) This event is open to the public!!! There are numerous recent studies illustrating that industrial agriculture is not only toxic and destructive in many ways, but also fails to feed the number of people that it suggests it feeds. Not only that, but traditionally grown, non-industrial, local, organic food is far healthier for our bodies and the planet. Let's talk about how to move away from a system that supports industrial modes of food practices. The student chapter of the NMAPA (American Planning Association of New Mexico) is showing these films to raiseproduction to one that encourages localized, small-scale and diverse agricultural awareness and to facilitate a discussion about how citizens, professionals and academics can become more informed, take action and become better food system planners.
